Prerequisites and Audience

You should be comfortable with MongoDB fundamentals — documents, collections, CRUD operations — and have some exposure to Atlas specifically. If you've only used self-managed MongoDB and never touched Atlas, you'll need time to learn the managed service aspects: cluster configuration, connection strings, Atlas UI, and cloud-specific features. Database administrators, DevOps engineers, and cloud engineers who manage MongoDB Atlas clusters in production. If you're the person responsible for provisioning clusters, configuring security, setting up backups, and monitoring performance in Atlas, this cert validates those skills. It's also relevant for developers who need to understand the operational side of Atlas beyond just connecting and querying.
Staying Certified
MongoDB certifications are valid for three years. After that, you can retake the current version of the exam to recertify. MongoDB updates their exams periodically, so the version you recertify on may cover newer features.
