XK0-006 Exam Overview
What to Expect
The CompTIA Linux+ V8 (XK0-006) exam has 90 questions and a 140-minute time limit. That works out to about 1 minute and 33 seconds per question. You need to score 75% or higher to pass. CompTIA uses a scaled scoring model from 100 to 900. Passing scores vary by exam: Security+ requires 750, Network+ requires 720, and A+ requires 675. Performance-Based Questions are weighted more heavily than standard multiple-choice questions.
Testing and Delivery
CompTIA exams are delivered through Pearson VUE at testing centers and online. Exams often include Performance-Based Questions (PBQs) that simulate real tasks like configuring a firewall or analyzing log output. These PBQs appear at the beginning of the exam.
Certification Renewal
CompTIA certifications are valid for three years. You renew by earning Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through training, teaching, publishing, or passing a higher-level exam. The required CEU count varies by certification level.
