What to Expect
The Okta Certified Consultant exam costs $250 USD You'll face 60 questions in 90 minutes, giving you roughly 1 minute and 30 seconds per question. Pass/fail with a 70% passing threshold. Results are provided after the exam with domain-level scoring feedback.
Prerequisites and Audience
Okta recommends significant hands-on experience implementing Okta solutions for customers, including SSO configurations, directory integrations, and lifecycle management. There's no formal prerequisite certification, but you should be very comfortable with identity concepts — SAML, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SCIM, LDAP — and have practical experience configuring Okta for enterprise customers. If you haven't done at least a few Okta implementations, the exam's practical scenarios will feel unfamiliar. Implementation consultants, solutions architects, and identity engineers who deploy and configure Okta for customers. This is the cert for people who set up Okta environments from scratch — configuring SSO integrations, connecting to Active Directory or LDAP, setting up provisioning workflows, and building custom solutions using Okta's APIs. If your job title includes "Okta consultant" or "IAM engineer," this is your certification.
Staying Certified
Okta certifications are valid for two years. You can recertify by retaking the exam or passing a higher-level Okta certification. Given how quickly the Okta platform evolves, the two-year cycle keeps your knowledge current.
